The PDFcommander suite of programs consists of one main and five
background
applications that work in conjunction with or separately to
PDFcommander™.
PDFcommander™is a Windows, (Win 2K and later O/S), multithreaded
database application, providing a one-stop solution for the creation and
management of PDF files.
Its database functions facilitates document management, editing, emailing,
storage and retrieval for both source files and PDFs - its project password
protection, encryption and archiving facilities offers security for sensitive
data contained in source files.
For the ultimate convenience, PDFcommander™ will also run as a
pseudo service
.
A
limited function version of PDFcommander™ is available as freeware, (not
adware or spyware), and can be interfaced by developers.
The registered version, $50.00, is fully functional.
For corporate clients, PDFcommander™can be modified to interface with
existing or proposed systems either by the PDFcommander™ database
development team or through an approved PDFcommander™ developer partner.

Many of PDFcommander™'s functions are supported by wizards, which
explain the individual steps required to complete a task.
Context sensitive help
is available at all times in
plain English
which endeavours to provide jargon-free explanations to technical questions.
Tutorials exist for most tasks, and are listed alphabetically under the
relevant program name.
PDFfilefinder creates lists of the files on your system.
Each file list contain details about a single file type only.

If you are creating/editing and saving files for a project other than in
the project's project folder, PDFfilefinder™ will create a file list of
all suitable files saved since you opened your project.
These files can be be copied into your project by drag 'n drop or by right
clicking on the file list.
PDFfilefinder can be run from the desktop, when required from
PDFcommander™or automatically when you quit PDFcommander™, which
will help keep the lists up to date.
PDFsitecapture creates a PDF from all of the pages on a web site and any
other pages linked to that web site.
It becomes useful where users have slow dial-up connections, do not have
Internet access, or simply require the entire site as a PDF.
You can filter the pages by entering text strings in the dialog in the
wizard - only pages containing the strings will be included.
Editable bookmarks are created for all pages and all other 'enhancements'
are also available.
Each page of the website can be previewed in Internet Explorer and the
pages can be reordered to suit.
Links to sites external to the selected website are only at the first level
- links within the selected website are complete.
'Mailto:' links are appended to the end of the PDF and will instantiate the
selected email client, enabling you to email the selected site as originally
intended.
PDFdatacapture™ converts non graphical source files, PDFs and web pages to
data.
The data can be queried through SQL commands and exported to a variety of
different data formats including Visual Foxpro, Access, SQL Server and MySql.

URLtraka™ constantly monitors the web sites visited by Microsoft
Internet Explorer whilst
PDFcommander is running.
The title of the web page, the time and date when the web site was accessed
is recorded as is the time spent at the site.
The user selectable list can be used to run the
PDFsitecapture™
application and automatically create PDFs of entire web sites.
The list identifies the web site by URL and web page title. To preview the
site, click on the preview button in the toolbar or menu option and
PDFcommander will initialise Internet Explorer and take you to the site.
The list can be reordered by URL, web page title, date/time accessed, and
duration. A search facility enables you to find data in either the URL or web
page title.
Unwanted records can be deleted by holding down either the SHIFT key or
CTRL key and clicking with the mouse, and then clicking on the delete button in
the toolbar.
PDFtextfinder™ searches for text within PDFs and other files in a
PDFcommander™project.
PDFtextfinder™ produces a report which details how many instances of
the text were found in which project file.
With PDFs, the page number and count per page is also returned.
The file types that PDFtextfinder™ will search are :-
-
Acrobat PDF - *.pdf
-
HTML - *.htm, *.html, *.mht, *.shtm
-
MS Excel - *.xls
-
MS Powerpoint - *.ppt
-
MS Word - *.doc
-
MS Write - *.wri
-
Rich Text Format - *.rtf
-
Text file - *.txt
-
Web link - *.url
As text searching may take some time depending on how many files you wish
to search and how large the files are, PDFtextfinder™ works concurrently
with PDFcommander™.
PDFprocessor™
concatenates
project files to create a single PDF.
Any number of projects can be processed, and you can determine the order of
processing.
PDFprocessor™ can be scheduled to run at a time you determine and the
PDFs can be automatically emailed.
